Member of the Month - Marilyn Grigsby

Marilyn was president of the local juniors club when Cocoa Beach Woman's Club (CBWC) was founded in 1965. She has served a total of 27 years on the FFWC state board and was CBWC President from 1986 to 1987.

Marilyn is an honorary member of our club. This means that she has given such worthy service to the club as to merit this distinction by having been elected by vote at a general meeting after being recommended for the honor of executive board. She currently serves as our Treasurer.
Marilyn is also Gallery chair for the Space Coast Art Festival. She is our club liaison for volunteers to help at the Brevard Zoo. The Brevard Zoo hosts the "Very Special Program" for special needs students from throughout Brevard County.
Marilyn and husband Brian have two sons, Stephen who is a local veterinarian and Robert who is a Colonel in the U.S. Army. We thank Marilyn for all that she does for our club.

February Message from Pam Kendrick, Pres.

A simple "thank you" is hardly adequate for all of the time and effort contributed by so many of you to the Antique Appraisal Fair! Special thanks go to Marilyn Grigsby and Janice Rogers for having all of the material ready for signs and lists.

As it turned out, the fair was more like a party for us to enjoy, but we could certainly have used more clients. The food brought by our members was delicious and was the hit of the day. We had the help of four husbands - Brian Grigsby, James Gott, Parker Holden and Toney Kendrick. It was kind of them to donate time on a big football Sunday. It was especially nice that three of our newest members were on hand to help. They were Sheryle Schaefer, Connie Brinton and Angela Raymond. One of our appraisers, Don Traver, has suggested some really fun and exciting new ideas for fundraisers. We will be sharing some of these ideas soon.

We have received the official call for the District 6 Arts and Crafts Festival. It will be in Palm Coast on Feb. 26th. This is a great opportunity for new members to meet ladies from other clubs in our district and hear what they have been doing. There are 14 clubs in our district and there are 14 districts in the state. I will be looking for interested volunteers at the Feb. general meeting.

It is a true pleasure to welcome the new members installed in January. They are Janice Zebrowski, Sheryle Schaefer, Julia George, June McClure and Angela Raymond. We will have another installation next month for four more new members.
Jean is working on the museum and lighthouse bus tours. It looks like it will be in February and husbands are welcome.

Please see Jean’s column about our February program. It should be a lot of fun. I think we all enjoy hearing backstage tidbits about some of the stars who have appeared at the King Center.
Remember, we will be collecting really nice but no longer wanted clothing at our next meeting.
Our next fundraiser is our Spring Fashion Show on Feb. 28th . The flyers are already out thanks to Barb Holden. This should be a really nice event catered by T.F. Onion with fashions by Lily Pad in Melbourne. We will be asking you at the general meeting to take tickets to sell for the fashion show.

We also need to sell tickets for our time share raffle coming in April. Anna Perez was the lucky winner last year.

Again, thank all of you for your outstanding help at the Appraisal Fair.

Pam Kendrick

Door Prizes and Silent Auction Items Needed

The Cocoa Beach Woman's Club is seeking items to be used as door prizes or silent auction items for our February 28th fundraiser Fashion Show and Luncheon.

Do you or someone you know, including business owners, have an item to donate? This may be an item you have acquired and not used or a business service, gift certificate or product.

The Cocoa Beach Woman's Club fashion shows draw a large number of locals. For businesses this is a excellent marketing opportunity.

Please contact me if you have an item to donate or know someone who does. I will arrange to pick it up or you can bring it to the next Woman's Club Meeting on Feb. 5th.

Thank you,
