The Cocoa Beach Woman's Club held their annual Student Awards Ceremony on June 2. Recipients received over $5,000.00 in scholarships and awards to students from the Cocoa Beach area. Three $1,000.00 scholarships were presented to Saylor Kelly, Candace Kuzma, and Lili Megan Moots. These students were chosen based on their leadership skills, outstanding community service record and their academic achievement
An additional award was presented with a grant to Pallavi Shankar. Pallavi will attend the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Program, founded in 1958. HOBY's mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation. HOBY programs provide youth selected by their schools to participate in unique leadership training, service learning and motivation-building experiences.
Cocoa Beach Woman's Club carries out many fund raising projects throughout the year. Every year we provide scholarships to deserving students from Cocoa Beach area high schools. Likewise we present monetary awards to the CB/Sr. High School band, chorus, and orchestra. Elementary students were awarded $50.00 savings bonds for their outstanding academic and leadership efforts. There were fourteen recipients of these savings bonds.
The Cocoa Beach Woman's Club was established in 1965 and focuses on community service. Our membership is open to women in Cocoa Beach and the surrounding area. Our meetings are held on the first Thursday monthly, will resume in September. We extend an invitation to join us in our endeavor to serve our community.
